Corrections Policy
Regulations change, figures get superseded, and mistakes happen. Here's what we do about it.
How To Report Something
Use the Contact page and tell us which page, which figure, and ideally the source you're checking it against (a payslip, a force circular, a regulation, an official determination). The more specific the report, the faster we can verify it.
What Happens Next
- We check the claim against the primary source listed in our Source Policy — not against another website's version of the same figure.
- If the figure is wrong, we correct it and update the page's "last updated" date.
- If the figure was correct but the regulation has since changed, we update it and note the effective date of the change where relevant.
- If the report turns out to be based on a misunderstanding rather than an actual error, we'll explain why — you're owed a real answer either way, not silence.
What This Site Won't Do
We won't quietly edit a page and pretend the error never happened. A meaningful correction to a pay, pension or tax figure updates the visible "last updated" date on that page, so returning readers can see it changed.
Response Time
This is a small independent site, not a newsroom with a dedicated corrections desk — we aim to acknowledge reports promptly, but genuine verification against a regulation or determination sometimes takes a few days to do properly. We'd rather get it right than fast.
