In short

The Selection Pack is PolicePay's own practice for Police Now's immersive assessment and virtual assessment centre, mapped to Police Now's published competencies and values. It is not Police Now's material and your scores do not predict your result. Try the free sample task below first; it shows your own word count and time against the guide.

How the pack maps to Police Now's selection

Police Now's own pages describe an untimed online immersive assessment, then a virtual assessment centre that differs by specialism. The pack follows that published outline; the content is ours.

Police Now stage (its pages)Pack practice
Immersive assessment (online, untimed, about 45 minutes)64 judgement scenarios mapped to the competencies and values
Neighbourhood: incident summary written report3 timed incident summary tasks with model answers
Detective routes: investigative report3 timed investigative report tasks with model answers
Neighbourhood: community engagement interactions, each followed by reflection4 neighbourhood role plays with reflection prompts
Detective routes: crime case interactions (a suspect; a community member worried about a victim)4 detective role plays with reflection prompts
InterviewThe "why Police Now" builder and the Police Now set in the mock interview
Timings are ours

Police Now does not publish exercise timings for its assessment centre. Our written tasks run 25 to 40 minutes and our role plays 4 to 8 minutes, so you build the habit of finishing on time. Follow the handbook Police Now sends you.

Scenarios by competency and value

Each scenario is mapped to one or two of Police Now's published competencies or values, so you can drill the ones your free test showed as weakest. Counts below are worked out from the pack itself.

What the pack is not

  • It is not Police Now's material, and Police Now has not reviewed it.
  • Its scores are practice scores. Police Now does not publish a pass mark for any stage.
  • It does not cover eligibility, vetting, the medical or the fitness test. See our eligibility guide for those.

Start with the free practice

The free Police Now practice test has 37 scenarios in the same format. Finish a set there and this page shows your score and your two weakest competencies, so you know what to drill. The assessment centre guide explains every exercise.

Quick answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these Police Now's real questions or exercises?

No. Every scenario, written task, role play and example in the pack was written by PolicePay. Police Now does not publish its immersive assessment questions or its assessment centre materials, and it has not reviewed or endorsed this pack. The pack is practice in applying Police Now's published competencies and values.

How much does the Selection Pack cost?

£24.99 for 12 months of access, one payment, nothing renews. The bundle with the 90-day Mock Interview pass is £49.99 (£64.98 if bought separately). If you already have the pack, the bundle is priced as the difference.

Is Police Now open for applications now?

The March 2027 entry has closed. Police Now says applications for the March 2028 start open early next year and you can register interest by region. The pack lasts 12 months, so it covers the next window.

How long are the written tasks?

Between 25 and 40 minutes each, 205 minutes across all 6. Police Now does not publish how long its written report is, so these timings are ours. Practise finishing early rather than late.

Does it cover the Detective, Economic Crime and Counter Terrorism routes?

Yes. 32 of the 64 scenarios are set in a detective role, and half the written tasks and role plays follow the Detective assessment centre: crime case interactions and an investigative report. Economic Crime and Counter Terrorism follow the detective structure, per Police Now's own pages.

Is what I type saved or sent anywhere?

Your written answers and why-Police-Now notes are saved in this browser only, so you can come back to them. Nothing you type is sent to us. We record only anonymous counts of tasks started and finished.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Full refund within 14 days, no reason needed. See our refund policy.
