British Transport Police
British Transport Police polices the rail network across England, Wales and Scotland (stations, trains and railway property) rather than a fixed geographic area. It sits outside the 43 territorial forces, pays every four weeks (13 pay days a year) and has its own pension fund.
BTP pay
BTP pays the same national constable scale as the 43 Home Office forces and starts new recruits on pay point 2: £33,609, rising to £52,014 after five years, according to its Inner London advert. It sets its own location allowances by station: Inner London officers get £9,044.75 (a London Allowance of £5,783.75 plus London Weighting of £3,261) from day one of training.
